Really love the artstyle and storytelling of this VN!
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Supernovas blaze in the night sky, but the gaming world is abuzz over a new virtual reality console. Jacob Lessard, developer of the Penta device, promises a neural experience more "real" than reality itself. But what does it truly mean for something to be real?
When Lilya arrives at InterMense to beta test the Penta, she expects to spend the weekend battling her social anxiety in exchange for the opportunity to enter the Vitalia simulation. But when Ben, another tester, refuses to leave the world of Vitalia, endangering his life, Lilya sees that she has become involved in something much more eye-opening than she realized. As Lilya, Ben, and Jacob's fates intertwine, they must make some of the hardest decisions of their lives, and confront their own perceptions of the nature of existence.
In this interactive novel, your choices will shape Lilya and Jacob's beliefs about what is real, or if reality even exists.
- A Thought-Provoking Narrative - with several mind-bending twists and two perspective characters, the story is both philosophically ambitious and deeply personal.
- Choices That Matter - a heavily branching story line makes the game re-playable. Your decisions have major consequences - ranging from shifting a character's attitude, to placing them on a different story branch, to re-directing the outcome of the entire game.
- Expressive Character Art and Visuals - 14 characters (with various poses and expressions), 13 background scenes, 13 CGs/special illustrations, 12 ending panels.
- Character and Relationship-Building - rich character development, affected by your choices, and with opportunities for both romantic and non-romantic relationship-building.
- Original Music and Sound Design - by the talented composer Chase Bethea.

I'm sorry but all the characters are annoying and childish asf.
Found this in the Ukraine bundle recently, loved the game. One of the most interesting and thought-provoking VNs I've played. More folks need to experience this.
I enjoyed this game. I could relate to the premise. The feeling you don't fit in and you find an alternate reality where things are as you would like them. It hits home. It's a scary thing to think about. The consequences of finding a paradise that is real, but only to you and maybe some select others, can be BIG. One can become so deeply immersed by finding a happy place when all they know are sad places. It's like the experiment of allowing an animal free access to that pleasure button. Seeking out that gratification even if it leads to their demise. It is important to stay grounded, you have to take the good with the bad. Sometimes one has to unplug.
The story did start to morph into something a little more metaphysical, or maybe spiritual. I'm not sure what word to attach to it. That isn't my vibe but I can see how the lines can be blurry between a virtual world (which is revealed to be some sort of dream world later) and the real one, in this story.
I only played through once and got an ending I liked. I was given the option to rekindle the flame, or let it die and bring about the Age of Dark, metaphorically speaking. Much like the story I am referencing it felt like ultimately it didn't matter. The cycle will occur as it should with or without intervention.
The writing style was direct and to the point, I liked that as well. You were able to convey the feelings of the characters and how their experiences could shape their decisions.
Got this through the bundle some time ago and just got around to playing it. While it took a little bit to get going, once it did the story was incredibly captivating and was supported by unique characters. The art, while a little inconsistent at times, was pleasant to look at and helped pull everything together with the great backgrounds. Incredible work!
An amazing visual novel!! Beautiful art, unique story, loved it.
Ah yes, an undiagnosed/untreated anxiety disorder causing problems with my family. This game is hitting a bit too close to home for me in the first act.
Fun VN about a VR world that features a scientist who definitely isn't Steins;Gate's Okabe Rintaro. Don't expect too much from it in terms of things it has to say and be prepared for a shifts partway through from a story you'd expect to be about Lilya's personal development to one focussed on scifi fantasy lore, and you'll have a good time. Art's nice, OST's enjoyable, and the lore is unique. Oh, but while the UI looks great it isn't the most functional. For example, it doesn't tell you how to turn on auto text or start the text history from the most recent lines. But these are ultimately minor things, there is still fun to be had.
Purchased this in the Ukraine bundle. It does not show up when filtering games on the bundle purchased page. I found it on page 13 and was able to download it there. Posting this in case others are having the same issue.
Does this have romance? What are this game's genres?
It has light romance (there are 3 potential romances, but they aren't the focus of the story). The game is a philosophical visual novel that covers the nature of reality and how people's perspectives can change it.
I bought the game and the download page doesn't have the Steam key even though the game page says it should have one.
Try looking again. Sometimes itch.io delays handing out Steam key after a purchase as part of its fraud prevention system.
I love it!! Looking forward to more VNs like this from you ^^
(hopefully the point of view could be from only one particular character)
4 time spamming would get you banned, so dont make caos.
In the demo you only play as the female character, will we get a choice or do we play both the whole game?
The story regularly switches between two perspective characters (Lilya and Jacob), but there are no choices about who you get to play as or when. The first scene from Jacob's perspective starts right after the demo.
