Just wanted to let you know that I really like the latest update, The Depths. I haven't cracked it yet. That deep-sea creature seems to be a fierce foe. One thing though: How does one launch those mega-torpedoes? The regular torpedo launcher doesn't seem to recognize the mega ones.
I'm glad you like the update! The regular torpedo launcher can fire mega torpedoes - select the torpedo launcher, and hit set projectile, then select what projectile you want it to fire (same mechanic as bows, but you might not have experimented with them much).
Go to your itch.io download page, and download the game again. Extract the .zip file (you can overwrite all the old 1.4.0 files, this will not overwrite any saves), and then run the game. If you install the itch.io client, it will automatically download and install updates.
I am completely stuck trying to get alien hearts. Even when the alien's shield goes down after 5 attacks (def goes down from 25 to 3), even with exotic gun (dmg: 14) damage is completely blocked. Is this a bug?
Ahhhh thanks! I thought I tried back and front, but apparently not. Now that I knew exactly what the issue was I was able to defeat them and reach the last boss (which kicked my butt).
Yeah, the final boss is pretty tough... especially since I made it harder after players said it was too easy. With the right preparation/equipment, you should be able to do it though.
It's strange that it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't... Sounds like a driver or perhaps actual card issue. Try updating the driver from Intel's website, windows update often finds old and outdated ones.
I indeed was not in the cloud. The last I logged in was a few months ago. So that leaves me just after having rebuilt after the bombardment. I guess that's my mistake.
Anyway I started over again on a new slot. But now everytime I step onto Sunset Haven I get a stall of a second every two seconds. As soon as I leave the place it stops.
Not really. I just got underway over there. There's only one patrol bot and one miner bot roaming around. I've built a nuclear plant, an advanced lab and a platform for my spacecraft to land on, nothing else. When leaving the island, as soon as I clear the last visible parts in the distance (east, west and up), it stops.
And it's just this slot. The other games are fine. It's just that I a good feeling about this particular start to the game in this slot. It would be a bummer to end it at this point.
Try dismantling the miner bot (the patrol bot shouldn't be a problem), and let me know if the lag disappears. If the miner bot gets stuck, it can cause that kind of lag (I'm currently working on a fix for the next update).
It wouldn't be a structure, it'd be a bot (the ones you can build and move around). It's weird the other slots aren't affected - it must've been something you built... maybe send me the save (export it from the title page options menu and upload it and give me a link).
Just now I wanted to start a new game on an empty slot. Things went fine for a few minutes, then there was a glitchy moment and later still it stalled when I had reached a chest underneath the hut without coming back on. After I had restarted my computer all the slots with games that I had played before were gone.
That's strange - the saves should be in %APPDATA%\Fancy Fish Games\Aground\aground (assuming you're playing on windows), let me know the filesize of saves.sol (it should be many KB to 1MB depending how many saves you have and how far along they are). Also, keep in mind this is user-specific, so if you log in to another user account, that will have it's own set of saves (the first user's saves will be intact under their account).
Also, if you were using Aground Cloud, try logging in and it should re-download the saves.
More or less finished the game last night. I had a blast playing the game. Some quests were kinda hard. But then again I'm a lazy person. I prefer playing using only one hand. So that doesn't help. I very much liked the quest part of the game. And the digging for ore. Maintaining the farm. Piecing it all together was a lot of fun. The battles and fights are kinda lost on me. I might be too old for this game.
I do have some questions about the game. For instance, those pillars in the water beyond the dragon cave on the starting island, do they serve a purpose? Also once the Cultivator was killed by a patrol bot, not by my caracter, so I couldn't receive that particular merit. I wanted to find out what would happen when I come to new island, build a warehouse, an advanced lab, and let some robots do all the digging and fighting.
And also I had been wondering if it would be cool if your caracter would able to sail past islands without being able to see what's underneath the surface. Or something.
The pillars are to make it unsailable (like a rocky coast), as you're meant to fly there on a dragon. If a patrol bot kills the cultivator, then you cannot get the achievement unless you kill the cultivator again yourself (like in the arena).
You can certainly fly past island without really exploring them, although eventually you kind of have to explore many of them for the quest progression. You can't really sail past islands though, as sailboats stop at coasts.
I'm glad you enjoyed the game, and I hope you'll enjoy our future updates too!
Sure - did you lose your itch.io key/page? I can search for your key by e-mail address (you can e-mail me it at david.m@fancyfishgames.com if you don't want to make your e-mail public).
Love this game! Reminds me of Miner Dig Deep but it has so much depth which I've only just scratched the surface of if the achievements are anything to go by.
Some fun little secrets/events already and I've only just got my steel tools. Can't wait to see what else this has to offer.
Keep up the great work!
10/10 worth the price for casual drop in and out sessions of a few hours here and there.
Someone, a while back, was told their card was outdated.
How about an "Intel(R) Graphics (Core i3)", is that too old also?
Purchased the download last week, which setup cleanly, only without video.
The game has all sounds, (and what seems like),all the functions, only without visual.
Can assuredly say that, because while clicking blindly, eventually arrived at the beach scene, and built the shelter & the first knocks, before realizing that I'm getting closer.
Badly want the full version, as this game now occupies 4-8 hrs/day.
This is a wonderful monster you guys made; and being retired/alone/older, it's that time-killer I was looking for.
It should work with the core i3 integrated graphics card (it's called the Intel HD). Try updating your graphics card driver? Depending on what generation core i3 CPU you have, you can find the driver on intel's website: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/80939/Graphics-Drivers , and if you don't know what CPU generation you have, you can try intel's driver support assistant: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html . Once the driver is updated to the latest version, let me know if it works!
Updating the driver worked well.......thanks for the help.
Didn't know for 3 days though, as my computer was not restarted, and the update will not activate until then. Also, finding cloud was a +, as the game does not have to be active, in the background, for days, as closing meant loss of all info.
There's an awful lot to get used to with these computers/games. Started as a hobby, a while back; and now, it's becoming a way of life.
Time to see just how much difference there is between the demo, and the full version.
Glad that worked! I was pretty sure even the oldest i3 had the required graphics capabilities. I hope you enjoy the full version - and hopefully your saves won't disappear now that you're running the downloadable version (the web version is limited by the browser, whose history/saves can be cleared easily).
i bought the game with steam but it does not work on my ubuntu linux is there a way i can get it for free on my itch account or through fancy fish games website? thanks
The itch.io version and steam version are basically the same - did you try the demo on itch.io and it worked, is that why you're assuming it'll work here? You might want to try installing the following libraries: libglu1-mesa:i386, libpulse0:i386 , as it should work on ubuntu linux - if you have more details, let me know.
you don't have to port it on Chromebook because it's running on android and the game will think it's running on mobile but connected to a keyboard so you can do that
i spent 20$ on steam and the website in an attempt to play this game, but since i do not have the "openGL graphics card 2.0+" i could not play it. however, i was able to play the demo on kongregate and somewhere else and i was hoping to know if there was a solution to this since i really want to play the full version.
How old is your computer? OpenGL 2.0 has been around since 2004 so most computers should have it. What graphics card do you have? Updating the graphics card driver (from the manufacturer's website) might fix the problem depending on how old your graphics card is.
The kongregate version has a fallback html5 canvas renderer (which is really ugly - and it will warn you about if it uses it) that allows the game to run even if you don't have OpenGL 2.0+ - but the full version can't use it (it's not HTML5).
Graphics cards are expensive (usually a lot more than $50) and tricky to replace, but the graphics card driver is free to upgrade, it's just software from the manufacturer's website. It won't change the power of the graphics card, but it will sometimes add new capabilities (like opengl 2.0 support). What graphics card do you have installed currently? I can see if there's an updated driver.
If you're running windows, then run dxdiag.exe (from the start/run menu), then go to the display tab of the window that appears and it will tell you the name of the graphics card (like, mine says "Name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 520", which is enough to find the right driver).
Yes, farmer bots only do hydroponics, farms, and as of the late update, wyrm pens. Several people have suggested adding the coral pen too, so they will harvest that in the next update.
Well, you can't copyright game mechanics, so while you can't literally copy the code/game assets or use the name Aground, you can make a game with the same mining mechanic (in fact, Aground wasn't the first - I got the idea for being able to move up/down without gravity while mining from Utopian Mining).
Well, if you want to get involved in modding aground, there's quite an active community on discord: https://discord.gg/aground . An Aground style game from scratch is quite a bit of work (especially for a first game project), but there's nothing stopping you from making a game like Aground (Notch made minicraft for a game jam in 48 hours).
I use Haxe/OpenFL: https://www.openfl.org - I transitioned to it from flash as3, and I've been liking it a lot, but it's not really a full game engine so I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner (although there is https://haxeflixel.com/ that was built on top of openfl and is an engine, and I've heard good things about it). There are also a lot of game-specific engines (like RPGMaker), which make creating a specific kind of game very easy, but aren't very flexible if you want to do more than the engine planned for - I'd definitely recommend one of those if your game idea fits the engine.
[Solved] Hi, David. I enjoyed the web version of this game. Now, I want to preorder it. But, when I tried the demo in linux it says error while loading shared libraries: libvorbisfile.so.3 Can you help?
Solution: Here is how to run Aground game on linux (ubuntu) Run the .sh file instead of the binary file. In the command line, run ./Aground.sh
Did you extract all the files in the .zip? libvorbisfile.so.3 should be in the game directory. Also, make sure you run the .sh file, not the executable, as it sets the path to find those libraries.
On the itch.io page, it should have the following instructions right?
Linux: Extract the .zip file and run Aground.sh (you may need to set it's permissions to be executable). If you're running a 64-bit version of Linux, you may also need to install the following libraries: libglu1-mesa:i386, libpulse0:i386.
If I put all the missions into the demo, no one would buy the full version XD. The demo already has a lot of content, 3 islands and 8+ hours, more than most games. It will not get any more islands/content/planets.
New chromebooks can run the linux version of the game (the old ones can run the linux version too, but it's a lot more complex). In any case, an official chromebook port is low on our list and certainly wont be soon if it happens (I'm kind of hoping the linux version ends up working on most/all chromebooks).
Could you give specific instructions how to open the linux file when I go into the folder and click "aground" it says unable to open and there is no app to open this type of file I have enabled developer mode now what? Do you need my model?
idk I've tried everything I couldn't unzip the file I tried unziping it in the linux thing but it said unfound I finnaly tried "install ./Aground.sh" and it said file unsupported I tried moving all the game files to a different folder and installing that but NOTHING works wth more do I have to do.
You don't have to install ./Aground.sh, just run ./Aground.sh, but that works in linux, I'm not sure about chromebooks, and I don't have a chromebook to try it on. The latest chromebook OS does say it supports linux apps, but I don't really know much more than that...
when the game will be free or there will be a week that will be free and then get paid again because I have no money and I already did everything I could do in the demo version :/
The demo will remain free (and has a lot of free content), but the full version will never be free (we have to make enough to keep developing the game somehow).
After defeating the mirrows, you are at the end of the science path in the demo - you'll need to get the full version to get more missions on that path. However, there are side quests and a second path in the demo you can do as well - try completing quests for the alchemist on the starting island to unlock the magic path (try feeding the wyrms in the wyrm pen).

Make sure you attack it from the front (where the opening appears), if you hit it from behind it will block it even if open.

Platformer at its finest.
aground is a blast! i absolutely love it!
Unfortunately after some days of playing I got an error msg when starting aground, stating that my graphic drivers were not supporting opengl 2.0.
(I didn't change anything about my graphic drivers or any part of my system)
The error dissappeared on its own after some days, aground works again for some days. Then I start experiencing the above problem again.
Yesterday I decided to upgrade my graphic drivers, thinking that these being very old may have caused the problem.
I don't get the above error msg anymore, but now aground looks like this
(stretched, cut in half, wrong colours, buttons mixed up)
oddly the starting screen is displayed correctly, as soon as the menu buttons load it becomes like seen above...
I am using windows 7, my graphic chipset is an intel HD graphic 3000
Please help! Thx!

There's an executable demo available right below purchase on this page. You can also play the demo on websites like armorgames.com like you saw.
Yes i saw that now thanks
so i bought the game before the steam launch and can no longer re download without re-purchasing, can i have some help.

I downloaded the Linux Zip file for my chromebook, now how do i play the game
(im in 6th Grade, so im having difficulty)
You cannot, linux is not the same as chrome os. There is no chromebook version, sadly. However, there may be soon, according to the developer
The latest version of chromebooks DO support linux programs: https://www.computerworld.com/article/3314739/how-to-use-linux-apps-on-chrome-os... - if your chromebook supports it, that might work. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for a chromebook-specific port.
you don't have to port it on Chromebook because it's running on android and the game will think it's running on mobile but connected to a keyboard so you can do that
How many paths are there in the demo, are there more than two?
There are two paths, plus some secret areas and side quests.

Is it possible saves can be made to sync automatically with cloud, lost some progress because I forgot to sync them.
Saves should sync automatically when you close the program as long as you're logged in and the game doesn't crash.
To sync it makes me go to title screen and press the "sync now" button.
You can manually sync that way, but it should automatically sync when you close the program too.
Hi, David. I've just got an idea.
Can you add an item that can block tunnel? Something like stone block or clay block.
So when you accidentally dig the sand and the water leaking, you can place that block to stop the water.
This also usefull when crawling the Wyrm labyrinth, as we can put that block on wrong path and only walk on unblocked path.
Try using the shovel (item) - it can fill in a mined tile and block water/enemies. The pump pack is also useful for sucking up water.
Hi, David. I think I found a bug.
It seems that farmer bots don't harvest items from Coral-pen. Is this behavior expected?
Yes, farmer bots only do hydroponics, farms, and as of the late update, wyrm pens. Several people have suggested adding the coral pen too, so they will harvest that in the next update.

Hi, David. I enjoyed the web version of this game. Now, I want to preorder it. But, when I tried the demo in linux it says error while loading shared libraries: libvorbisfile.so.3 Can you help?
Solution:
Here is how to run Aground game on linux (ubuntu)
Run the .sh file instead of the binary file.
In the command line, run ./Aground.sh
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by enter linux.
Linux is an operating system, like Windows and Mac. Aground runs on all three of those.
Did you extract all the files in the .zip? libvorbisfile.so.3 should be in the game directory. Also, make sure you run the .sh file, not the executable, as it sets the path to find those libraries.
Thanks. It works. :)
This note should be included in the zip file.
For linux, "Do no run the binary file, but run the .sh file instead"
On the itch.io page, it should have the following instructions right?
Linux: Extract the .zip file and run Aground.sh (you may need to set it's permissions to be executable). If you're running a 64-bit version of Linux, you may also need to install the following libraries: libglu1-mesa:i386, libpulse0:i386.
Are you going to take out the cooperative version in the demo or in the complete version or in both?
The co-op version will be in the complete version only.
Can you add a cooperative multiplayer version for the game?
Co-op multiplayer is on our roadmap for end of august: https://steamcommunity.com/app/876650/discussions/0/1744469130471927220/
If I put all the missions into the demo, no one would buy the full version XD. The demo already has a lot of content, 3 islands and 8+ hours, more than most games. It will not get any more islands/content/planets.
uh Can you possibly make a version for chromebook because (called it) my windows broke and I Really want to try the space update

In any case, an official chromebook port is low on our list and certainly wont be soon if it happens (I'm kind of hoping the linux version ends up working on most/all chromebooks).
thnx (now I gotta use developer mode)

I honestly haven't gotten Aground running on a chromebook yet, but try following this guide: https://www.howtogeek.com/363331/how-to-set-up-and-use-linux-apps-on-chrome-os/ . If your model supports the new chromebook os, it should work.
idk I've tried everything I couldn't unzip the file I tried unziping it in the linux thing but it said unfound I finnaly tried "install ./Aground.sh" and it said file unsupported I tried moving all the game files to a different folder and installing that but NOTHING works wth more do I have to do.
You don't have to install ./Aground.sh, just run ./Aground.sh, but that works in linux, I'm not sure about chromebooks, and I don't have a chromebook to try it on. The latest chromebook OS does say it supports linux apps, but I don't really know much more than that...
when will the next update be I can't wait to go into space
It should be live 1-2 weeks (the update will be done soon, but we'll have some beta testing before we make it live).
when the game will be free or there will be a week that will be free and then get paid again because I have no money and I already did everything I could do in the demo version :/
The demo will remain free (and has a lot of free content), but the full version will never be free (we have to make enough to keep developing the game somehow).
look the demo may contain several things but my demo is no longer nothing .-.
It has no use in the demo, but if you hold on to them, there are uses for the helium sacs in the full version.
